Description

BREG® Polar Care Kodiak Wave

The Kodiak Wave is the newest addition to the Polar Care family of cold therapy products, manufactured by BREG®. It is the 4th upgraded generation of a device called COTHERA®, which was originally created by the inventor of the Game Ready® device, over 10 years ago. The COTHERA® device was upgraded and replaced by the VPulse® after a few years of service, which was upgraded and replaced by the VPulse Lite® a few more years after that.  The " Wave " was released 3 years ago, and provides the same therapy as the VPulse® , but has more reliable parts, is more user friendly and has and double the length of warranty of the VPulse® device.

Just like the Game Ready® device and the outdated VPulse® or VPulse Lite®, the             " Wave " provides both motorized cold therapy and motorized pneumatic intermittent compression therapy but was invented with post surgical use in mind. The Kodiak Wave®  is commonly used to help heal faster after total hip, total knee, ankle or shoulder surgery. In addition it can be used for sports medicine therapy or after sports medicine surgery such as ACL repairs, knee and shoulder scopes. A choice of pads are available for the knee, hip, shoulder, foot/ankle, and back.

The Kodiak Wave® motorized cold therapy works by cooling the affected tissue to 7-10 degrees Celcius, compared to an ice pack, which is typically 3 degrees Celcius. This warmer therapy temperature used by the "Wave" helps protect your skin and incision. Too cold on a fresh incision is not good for skin healing. Because the temperature employed by the Wave is at a safer level for your skin, you can apply the pad for longer periods of time than an ice pack. This allows the cold to penetrate much deeper into your tissue and bone, thus minimizing the spread of chemicals the body releases after injury or surgery. Because you have less spread of chemicals by the body, you experience less pain and reduced levels of swelling and inflammation. The " Wave "  features multiple options for both the cold and compression therapies. It also regulates the temperature of the water. Motorized cold therapy with pneumatic compression has been proven to reduce the amount of narcotics used post surgically.

The Breg® Polar Care Kodiak device and pad is available for purchase and ships to your home within 2 business days. Please contact Happy Brace Co. for pricing information.
